The raven repeated its riddle and the team entered the adjoining room.  They found a sparse bedroom with a bloodstained sheet.  The team looked around, and Deska blew out the candle plunging the room into darkness.  When she re-lit the calendar, and flickering, hazy woman stood beside her!  Some of the party recognized her as Yelizaveta, the 13th queen of Irrisen who disappeared at the ascension of Queen Elvanna one hundred years ago.  The began drawing forth negative energy and using extreme fear against the party.  The group tricked her by bowing to her and feigning to be her loyal subjects, and she ranted about her wishes to leave this room and have her vengeance against Baba Yaga.  The group then ran from the room and told the riddle answer to the crow.  He awarded them an amulet in return marked with the Iobarian word “Artrosa” which is a row of three gigantic statues carved into the confluence of three mountains.

The group traveled on and found the chamber of night and met another of the Liar Seers.  They went into a room with a stone platform, a table with five silver goblets, and a large area of shallow water.  The team could not translate the writing on the cups, so Magnus drank from one causing stone steps to rise up and a light shine down upon a cage nestled in an alcove.  Ten-Penny, Tulvur, and Kenwrec went to investigate and retrieved an hourglass from the cage.  Ten-Penny, however, touched the water and nearly drowned from some kind of magical affliction.  The team continued drinking from goblets and causing steps to rise.  They tried to discover a timing pattern to the stepping stones rising and lowering from the water.  Eventually, Ten-Penny revived from her near drowning and suggested they use spider climb to avoid the water entirely, which the team eagerly tried successfully.  They then returned to the raven oracle and presented the hourglass.  The raven presented them with additional information and another amulet marked with a word they failed to translate.

Color me surprised. The half-orc Tenpenny figured out the riddle. “A dream.” How about that? An orc solved it before the elf could. Ha!

The raven told us to enter the nearby room and bring back “what it (the dream) desires”. I didn’t really understand what that even meant, but we were soon to find out. It was a bedroom, with the bedsheets stained with blood. Deska said the blood smelled something similar to the white witch, but not her herself. She blew out the candle lighting the room. Then immediately relit it.

A blonde woman appeared next to the bed, flickering as if between realms. Magnus recognized her as Queen Yelizaveta, daughter of Baba Yaga, who went missing 100 years ago. After thinking on it for a moment, he realized she is an “Animate Dream”, which is something like undead and thinks it is the person it looks like, but is not.

The cunning dwarf Tulvur convinced her to tell us her desire: vengeance against Baba Yaga and freedom. And before she could do any real damage, we exited the room and returned to the Raven. As a reward, it gave us an amulet. Magnus and Deska recognize an inscription: “Artrosa”, written in Iobarian, a language in a far away land. Perhaps that’s where the hut transported us to?

We continued on down the hall, coming to another door with an emblem, recognized by Magnus as from Iobarian witches for “night”.

I’m going to be honest. I’m not generally into humans, but there’s something magnificent about Magnus. Not only is he strong, he’s got a lot of knowledge too. Greta better watch out.

Waiting on the other side of the doors was another Raven, with another riddle. It told us we have to drink from the correct chalice in the next room in order to continue.

Unable to read the runes on the 5 chalices, Magnus chose one at random and drank. (He’s brave, willing to harm himself for the advancement of the group. A characteristic of a true hero.) An alcove in the room illuminated, and stones rose in the water leading from our platform to the alcove. Tenpenny investigated and found an hour glass in a cage. But she could not open it, so she started to come back. The stones sunk before she made it back, though. Even though she was standing straight up in the water, she magically began drowning.

Magnus took another drink, causing the rocks to rise again. Tulvur nimbly moved to Tenpenny and carried her back to the landing. It took effort from the entire party, but we were finally able to save her. We checked out the other alcoves’ contents, but decided the hour glass is the answer to the riddle.

The Raven gave us another amulet, but no one figured out it’s inscription. Oh well. At least it’s pretty.
